The institute is represented by the director as the management body within the framework of the authorisations that the institute has in legal transactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mag. Tja\u0161a \u017dohar \u010cretnik has been the director of the National Laboratory for Environment, Health and Food (NLZOH) since 2018.

In her professional life, she chose medicine and microbiology out of a desire to help people, a love of natural science, and exceptional dynamism in her chosen field of expertise, as microorganisms change at such a rate that they present us all with a constant challenge.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in 1989, she completed her specialisation in medical microbiology in 1996. In 2005, she received her master’s degree from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana for the master’s thesis titled “Definition of Endemic Types of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus at the Celje General Hospital with the Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis”.

As a specialist in medical microbiology, she became the head of the unit at the Department of Microbiology of the Institute of Public Health (ZZV) Celje in 1993. Between 2004 and 2009, she was the head of the Laboratory for Medical Microbiology in ZZV Celje. She was the principal of the Department for Microbiology of ZZV Celje for the next four years, until she assumed the position of the director of NLZOH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the director of the institute, the bodies of the institute are the Institute Council and the Institute Expert Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institute Council<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

functions as the institute\u2019s supervisory board. It consists of 7 members, of whom 4 are the representatives of the founder, one is the representative of the public employees at the institute, and two are the representatives of users. The term of office for the members of the Institute Council is 4 years. New members of the Institute Council were appointed in 2018, and their term of office will run until 27 February 2022. 2. 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Institute Expert Council<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    is a collegiate expert body that plans, discusses, and directs the expert activities of the institute. The Expert Council consists of the director, quality assurance representative, and the principals of the organisational units.
