Medical microbiology encompasses a variety of activities and services related to disease-causing microorganisms. It includes testing where we directly or indirectly determine which microorganisms are present as pathogens (diagnostics), monitoring of antimicrobial resistance (especially antibiotics), monitoring of the prevalence or occurrence of significant pathogens (public health microbiology) as well as applied and basic research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
