NLZOH participates in numerous national and international research projects in the field of public health, microbiology, chemistry, molecular biology, environmental protection and veterinary medicine. Within the projects, we cooperate with institutes and universities in Slovenia, Europe and the world.

Since its establishment in 2014, the National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food has been officially entered in the register of research organizations at the ARRS.

NLZOH is also a member of the Center of Excellence for Integrated Approaches in Protein Chemistry and Biology (CO Cipkebip).

NLZOH researchers are actively involved in the implementation of study programs at the University of Maribor (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Science and Mathematics) as lecturers. The projects also include the education of doctoral students, young researchers, graduates and masters of the second Bologna level, as well as the research activities of high school students.
